What happens when a boy finds a girl and a girl likes the boy?
What happens when they decide there is no other that can complete them like "that" person?
What happens when they commit their lives to one another?
What happens when they desire to meet the needs of the other person over their own?
A marriage of 21 years and still going!
I won't say our life is perfect without problems, because you can't live on this planet or with a fellow sinner and not have some issues. I will say we have a marriage that seeks to become one, more and more each year. If you are driving a car and you coast, it won't be driving straight down the road for long. If you think about it, marriage is the same.
To get married and then believe you can ride it out to the end of your days, I think you will find either you are living separate lives or you may not be married anymore. There is no coasting in marriage if you want a satisfying relationship with your spouse!
I'm thankful I married a man that desires what I do...a marriage that seeks to serve, a friendship that beats all others, a decision to make this work, and a home that accepts and loves without judgement.
We have hardly ever gotten to celebrate our anniversary on the right day (this year will be no different) but that has never kept us from celebrating our marriage. We take what we can get and enjoy every minute of it.
After a full day of missing each other, this is the text I receive this afternoon while we were still playing phone tag.
If you are looking for Mr. Right...don't rush or settle for 2nd best.
If you are married and you realize you are coasting...put a little focus on your marriage and reap the benefits.
Here are a couple of suggestions to put you back on track:
Enjoy connecting to your spouse! You won't regret the investment!

...yep, that is worth waiting for Mr. Right!"Happy Anniversary!"
I love how we love each other and what a wonderful life you have given me. I felt lucky to have you then and even luckier now! These 21 years have flown by and yet I can hardly think of my life before you. It's like you've always been with me...I like that... It's as it should be. -all my love!

Life is full of decisions and our decision to home school has been one that God has used for our family.
All families have to make the choice of where God leads them. I would encourage anyone to look at homeschooling but that doesn't mean all need to do it. I see too many people that feel the pressure if we don't home school then maybe they are less spiritual or less capable. NO! The measure of your walk is seeking HIM! Not homeschooling or doing what we 'think' are right things to be a godly christian.
I love how God loves us where we are at! It is our human brains that put these crazy standards that define our christian walk. God just ask us to glorify Him. We should follow with the fruits of the spirit but is there an exact measure of each of those? I'm not sure there is because God looks at us EACH so uniquely. The ingredients are the same, but the measurement is different as we are all at different point in our walk! YOU are unique!
It's like we paint a picture of the perfect christian mom. And I promise that just because you home school does NOT put you in this category.
Whether you are running kids to school or running from subject to subject in your own house, we are still moms that have to walk in grace, invest in our children, and put our pants on one leg at a time! (Although I would say if you take them to school you may actually put your pants on sooner than me!)
I don't always know why God takes us all down separate paths. I just know that He does!
It isn't for me to judge whether another family is doing God's will or not. Good grief! Its a full time job just to make sure I am walking where God is leading in my own life! Nor is it someone elses to judge me if my kids aren't in traditional school.
I want my children to see God's call as unique on their lives. Not everyone is asked to be a missionary. Not everyone is asked to have 8 kids. Not everyone is asked to be a teacher. Not everyone is asked to be a mom. We need to seek what God has in store for us and move forward.
What we do is really more about how He can work through us. And for some reason He asked me to home school my children. And if you are a family that has chosen to put your kids in school, for some reason He can use you more there than at home. We are only at fault or lacking when we did not seek what God is asking us to do.
If God has asked you to Home School or whether He has pointed you in another direction for you kids education, move forward in Joy. He is more concerned with our responses. I don't know that in life there is just ONE way to do things. I do think there is just ONE way to the Lord. Other than that, all our stories are different. All our paths are unique. But there is no denying that we are ALL loved!

........and I'm behind!
What's a woman to do?
I know! The blog is a little outdated being the end of summer and I still have snow pictures up!
(By the time I was ready to blog my program couldn't be updated to adjust my picture...I'm tired of waiting to solve that issue so I am blogging anyways!)
I know! I had big dreams of blogging all summer but life didn't grant that opportunity!
(I am not quite sure how school has already started? Did we have summer? IF it wasn't for the over 100 degree temperature I am not sure we did!)
We seem to live in a mans agenda vs Gods agenda world! It takes me a little bit to realize I got mans agenda back on my plate! How about you?
It is the constant juggle of living life at peaceful pace or living life at light speed. My heart desires peaceful but life seems to throw me back into warp speed!
So what's happening in the myshannonigans world? Oh...nothing much! Just life with 8 children, a husband, and home to manage. From weight-loss to medical issues, college classes to home-school planning, church events to social calendars, chores to responsibilities, and walking with the Lord through all of it!
Hopefully my husband will have me trained on all this updating that has happened to my computer! Praying I can keep track of all our usernames and pass-codes! Wishing I had a photographic memory to help in this tech generation!
But most of all...I am enjoying the chaos of what is in front of me! (Most the time!)
Realizing I have 2 children who are already young adults I know that all too soon these other 6 are not far behind! Only a mom of college students can be potty training a 3 year old and crying because she knows how fast these stages go! Okay...not really crying but I thought about it! I am super excited to almost be out of diapers for the first time in 20 YEARS!
So now that my computer is updated and running, the blog tool is functioning finally...Let the blogging begin!

Our little one in Heaven
Our 3rd child died 16 weeks into the pregnancy. I'll never forget the words of our 'almost 3yr old' when she told others about her baby brother. She would say baby Adam "tripped over his cord and died". (his cord had become twisted during pregnancy and cut off nourishment). For years our birthday celebrations would end with the release of birthday balloons to be sent to heaven for God to give to baby Adam.
