A Time to Honor

We have now entered a new stage of life for our family. Opening our doors and welcoming in 'THE PARENTS', my parents. As my mom says, "It's a real miracle to see 12 sinners living under one roof. God's grace in action!"

It has been a whirlwind move the past couple of weeks even though this was being processed for 7 months as a possibility. Not knowing exactly what the Lord wanted and yet following one step at a time it has been a joy being by their side as they walk this new adventure the Lord has presented.

Life isn't always easy nor does it play out the way we like at times. We have to be able to roll with the punches of what comes our way. So to see my parents at this stage, walk a different road than they expected, and see them walk it with such grace, is such a testimony in who they have always been. (No matter the path ahead...God is in control, NOTHING sneaks past Him!)

The roles have been reversed in their home as mom goes to work and dad encourages her along the way. It has been a season of adjustment in their dance steps as dad is slower and mom takes the lead in some things. They are beginning to dance in sync again. Watching them as they discover their new dance roles and supporting each other in their new season of life is a priceless gift for family!

They are still fighting for marriages, investing in young couples, encouraging young families, and loving each other and us along the way!

I love watching my parents!

Mom has always been task driven and a driver at heart. To see her slow down to keep at pace with dad and watch her enjoy the relationship instead of the task at hand is truly a picture of Christ!

I LOVE to watch my dad! If you ever want to meet a precious, wise, strong, gentle man...then you might need to meet my dad! His wisdom is there but slow to come out. He still has that quiet strength and BIG smile. Although, at times his body won't do what he wants it to do, he remains a gentleman in the process. Not resulting in anger, depression, or frustration (not that those days don't come) but he doesn't remain there. He is a picture of contentment. A picture of a man well respected as those that interact with him remember who he was and who he still is!

My dad may be different than he once was, and yet, at the same time, he is the same!

My love for him increases as I watch him age with dignity.

My mom is still the same as she moves to encourage, help, and love on others.

My love for her has grown as I see a woman who has not lost respect for her husband as things have changed but see her respect for her husband grow all the more in the process.

They are a couple to watch, admire, and know!

I am thankful they are here. And eager to see where God leads.

Our house is still the same...busy, full of excitement with just a couple of more sinners living in these 4 walls.
