Another Day of Homeschooling

Another day of motherhood is in full swing. I sit here next to one of the kids to be at an arm reach away for school help today. With so much happening we have gotten a little behind with her. (I know...shocker!)

If you are not a homeschooler then you really have no idea how many times we get behind! It is often! But I am thankful that a little focused attention can put us back on track in no time. A little focused attention on the 5th grader is just what the teacher ordered for the day!

Since I know as soon as I get up she will call me back to the table I decided to blog.

There are without a doubt days I feel very unaccomplished as a mom, teacher, and wife. Today I am feeling rather accomplished and it is only 12:30! Oh it hasn't been smooth but we are making progress through our day. There have been some complaints, eye rolling, and a nasty attitude here and there. But remembering I am to keep my cool and respond like Christ vs. react like an insane mom we are seeing change in behavior and I am well pleased!

It is amazing how when I hold onto my emotions and let them flow out as Christ would prefer the difference it makes in my kids response.

Here is what you MUST remember...gotta give them a little time and room for the change to take place! (It doesn't happen immediately...nor...does it take hours!)

I think too many times I try to be their Holy Spirit and force the change before I have even given God the chance to work on their heart. I can't believe I take on such a huge role! How much simpler my life would be if I could remember to let go and let God.

So today, I am determined to keep my eyes on the Lord and not on the behavior that pours out of my children at times. I will respond with gentleness, kindness, patience, and love AND let God grab their heart!

  1. This is such an encouragement! I think I try to "talk" my kids into a change of heart - and it doesn't work! I needed the reminder to let the Lord do the work in them. And give Him the time to do it!
    Blessings on your day!
